You have waited so patiently (probably more patiently than I have) for me to reveal something, ANYTHING about the new collection. ehh hum! *clears throat*

To my loyal reader(s):
It gives me great pleasure to share the following pictures with you directly from our upcoming collection which WILL be revealed (if you can stand it) NEXT WEEK!!! (...or so I hope.)

Our lovely models (top to bottom) are the striking Mrs. Kim Jaxn, the stunning miss Lauren Merrill (soon to be Mrs. Osmond) and of course I could never go with out the breath taking Miss Sierra Skousen. *cue choir singing "ahhhhhhhhh"* And the photography is by Sierra Studios Photography!
Aside from the sheer excitement of starting a new collection I am also excited to announce some new additives to our new collection that I KNOW you will all be at high risk of going pee pee in your panties over (don't be ashamed if you do).

1. NEW 3mm glossy enamel black metal headbands
2. Shiny NEW 3mm silver plated headbands
3. Each applique now comes STANDARD with a single prong rounded alligator pinch clip.

What does this mean?!!!?? Well for one who doesn't love a lot of GLOSSY? I just like to say that a lot. Glossy Glossy Glossy. Deal with it. Another thing, options! Do I go with the black or the silver??? Can't decide.... but I love the OPTIONS! Ok, finally let's have a moment of silence for the pinch clip......... *small tear* Now lets give a unanimous happy dance (shakin' it, movin it! happy happy HAPPY!) Now let's envision ourselves clipping those desirable appliques all up in a fancy updo, now on the collar of our cardigan, now on our purse, now on our diaper bag, now on our husband's suit jacket or or OR oR!!!! *reboot brain, mine just crashed*
Do I need to expand on all this or are we all to the breaking point? Have you finished rebooting yet because there is a little something else I have to add. On the verge of creating and designing this new collection I was overcome by the spirit of newness and all things that are new and changed and all that, so I thought..... (slow thinker.... sorry gonna have to wait a second longer....) I thought! "Why not vamp up the entire Whippy Cake brand?" You know, simplify, grow up a little. So that's what I did! So not only will we be revealing a new collection but also a new brand entirely and what better accessory to go with my new logo than an updated website to go with? Squeeeak! So bring your paper bag in case of hyperventilation because it's all gonna be ridonkulous and stuff. There is even more but I can't share everything at once or there won't be more exciting stuff to share later like the fact that we will be giving away a Flip UltraHD Camera as well. Ooops! It slipped ;)

Not another word about it till I have confirmation of the exact date and time. Zip!

We wanted to say Thank You to a new friend...

Her name is Suzi. A year or so ago, She, her Husband, and some friends were having a discussion about the frustrating state of the economy, and how dismal things were financially..

At the same time they couldn't help but notice, that even though the Job and Housing markets were down, they were still immensely blessed. That day U2rblessed was born. Since that time, they have created wearable art reflecting that positive attitude, helping others remember what is truly important.

Suzi met Becki at the Believe Boutique in November, and then the next time we heard from her was when we did our story on baby Emmett , she wrote us a sweet email offering to make personalized jewelry and T-shirts for his whole Family. Then when we posted about doing our "Glam for a Day" project, she again wrote us offering to donate to Rachel's Family. Not too long after that, I was on the phone with her and I mentioned how hard it had been to just pick one deserving Lady, that we had several amazing Women nominated... She immediately offered to make necklaces for everyone.:) WOW!

As you saw in our "Glam for a Day" post, she wasn't the only generous soul who came forward bearing gifts, we were blessed with lot's of LOVE and service from many of you...

We just really believe in what U2rblessed represents, and wanted to shine a light on that good:)...

We hope that we will all choose to focus the blessings in our lives.....

Glam for a Day - Rachel Olimb

Jeremy, Rachel, and Asher...

Finally the time has come to reveal our pick for a very special Glam for a Day winner. We were overwhelmed by all the letters we received and stricken with the daunting task of picking only one, however when we received the letter about Rachel we immediately knew what to do. We have been so excited to tell you all about her! Rachel and her Family's story is one of great faith and courage. Here is a quote from the letter her friend Emily wrote to us;

"Rachel was the first person I talked to who TRULY understood me after our tiny, 10 day old, newborn daughter was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a life-threatening and right now life-shortening disease that causes the mucous in your body to be thick and sticky, causing problems MANY problems but mostly problems with the lungs and digestive system. You see, Rachel had already been living with CF in her house for 18 months, as her little boy Asher had CF too. Rachel has a complete and total heart for God and loves Our Father endlessly. At my time of total devastation and heartbreak, Rachel was there to help me see the Lord in our situation."

She then went on to explain how Rachel and her Husband Jeremy were now expecting their 2nd baby boy Paxon. They were saddened to hear that Paxon also has CF, along with a deletion of the 4th Chromosome and a severe cleft pallet. Quite a blow that they are handling with great faith and grace. They turned to our Heavenly Father, and have been feeling his comfort and blessings ever since. Paxon made an early appearance on Christmas day! He is truly a gift, and is already showing signs of being a true fighter, however he is struggling greatly right now! He and his family are in for a long haul, and they NEED and love to have all of our prayers and support.

I strongly urge you to read more about their story on their blog and the heartbreaking battle the family is facing each day. You can also keep up with the family through Facebook. It's very tender and very real and I hurt for Rachel and her children but am also so incredibly thankful for her example and for the reminder to appreciate and share gratitude for the blessings that I have been given.

Now that you are all weeping along with us I'm sure you can see why we had to choose this beautiful person to pamper for a day. Let us share how it went....

The week before little Paxon came, we snatched Rachel away for a day of pampering and Glam! We had so many wonderful people volunteer their services to Rachel, we were all overwhelmed by the LOVE.

We started our day in the fabulous Adorn Style Lounge, Melinda the owner offered one of her best Stylists, and a gift certificate for clothes/jewelry in her very cool and shockingly affordable Boutique. After hair and shopping, we needed some food, and Sweet Cakes Cafe offered Rachel a delicious lunch on the house with their undeniably scrumptious cookies too of course. yummy!!!

Next we headed to the Whippy Cake Lair for gorgeous Glitter Toes by Emily Yeager, and makeup and hairstyling by Miss Becki.

We had our own little mini Christmas where we were able to shower Rachel with gifts from YOU! We were blown away and Rachel was moved to tears by the gifts that seem to keep on flowing.

We knew we were asking quite a bit of everyone just a week before Christmas and we were so touched by how willing they were to go out of their way to give even during the busy season. Thank you, we know how much time it cost you and it didn't go unnoticed.

Kathy Scoffeild of Kathy Scoffeild Photography, captured the day for us and also donated a Family~Maternity shoot to the family. She was so professional but also a pleasure to share the day with. We hope to work with her again soon.

Thank you again to everybody who helped us pull this off! I can't stress how much we truly appreciate all those who contributed and especially how thankful we are to your continued prayers. You made it a a delicious day and the best part was that we made a new friend for life!

Wendy and I have had the pleasure to meet an inspiring family and are slowly getting to know them. Today I want to share a video about a boy named Asher, who is the big brother in the family. This video was made by his daddy Jeremy so I hope when you are watching it you will view it from a parents perspective...

Sorry for my reckless abandonment of this blog. I've been unquestionably distracted on vacation with my family. I must say being snowed in every day has been mesmerizing and relaxing and really I've just enjoyed playing around and goofing off with my family. It will be tough to go home.

Opposition likes to dump out bags of buttons. Opposition likes to scout out candy in my desk. Opposition likes to squish her finger through my chap stick. Opposition likes to type on my computer. Opposition likes to sit in my lap while I sew. Opposition leaves her care bears on my floor. Opposition likes to play on my ipad when I'm not looking. But doesn't Opposition look adorable in a dress?

London (currently known as Opposition) is opposed to all things Whippy Cake or at least she is determined to sabotage all things Whippy Cake. She sure is adorable while she is doing it though. It's hard to get frustrated even if she is a force to be reckoned with.

I was honored the girls from St. Josephs Hospital asked me to make the charms and necklaces for the Complex Congenital Heart Infant Evaluation and Follow-up (CHIEF) graduation again this year. The adorable little babies go through so much with their heart surgeries and recovery and it's such an exciting thing for them to be able to graduate. I designed the handmade "bandaged heart" charms to remind them of their triumph over their struggles and it's something that the moms and patience can share in common. It's always such a blessing to be a part of something like this (even though my part is microscopic) it gives me the opportunity to realize how blessed I am in life and of course how precious life itself is.

My BIG Surprise

A few moths ago I called a family friend of ours and he and I started working together on a project I am incredibly excited about. Jake Clark is in the business of filming and I am tickled pink (do people even say that anymore?) that he is partnering up with Whippy Cake. Jake will officially be taking over filming our video tutorials (there, there icam, don't take it personal). As much as I love recording my hair tutorials by myself on my computer with only one angle in my studio with bad lighting I just felt that my video tutorials were lacking. Over the last few months I have been pouring all my ideas and thoughts into a folder, just saving them for the right time when Jake and I could get the ball rolling. (Sorry for holding out on you, hopefully you will forgive me when you see the new set of videos.) The time has finally come and we decided to kick off the new upcoming videos with a video promo of my 2011 collection. Holla! I begged Sierra to come back on set to model for us once again. I got to see a few peaks of the video and I am seriously going to blow a gasgut from excitement.

I just thought I would leak some pictures and some info so that I am not the only one out of my mind with anticipation. I will be posting more information and details once we get closer to posting our new set of video tutorials. It's going to be COLOSSAL!!!

Whippy Cake Casting Call

We are officially on a quest to find the perfect girls to model our next collection on our website.

The photoshoot will be located in Chandler and will be an all day event. We already have our adult models but we are still looking for 1 girl between the ages of 2 and 8 as well as 1 newborn infant between 7 days old and two weeks old. The Phototshoot will be between December 28th and the 30th.

How to Apply:

To be considered please send me an email at becki@whippycake.com with the following information:

Name, age, clothing and shoe size and physical features (ie. eye color, hair color, legnth etc.)
Personality traits (ie. bubbly, hyper, shy, quiet etc.)
Any applicable modeling experience including dates and venue information
Minimum of 5 images including 1 head shot and 1 full body shot.
Availability between December 27th and 30th.
For the newborns include due date and if you are willing to travel with your infant.
Contact information for legal guardian including, name, relationship to model, primary number, secondary number, and email. Also let us know if you accept text messages.
Feel free to include any additional information you think we might like to know :)
Models/model's guardians are required to sign a consent form prior to the photoshoot.
The second application phase will be a live interview and test shots in front of a camera so we ask that you only apply if you are willing to travel both the interview and late to the photoshoot.

*If you yourself would like to be considered as an adult model feel free to apply as we might have additional openings and we would also love to have you on our contact list for future events.

We are so excited about this phototshoot and we are even more excited at the prospect of having some of our readers participate!

Can you blame me?

I know a lot of people are disappointed we closed up shop so early. I'm super sorry for any of you who didn't get to purchase from our fall collection. The holidays are always a treacherous time for business owners especially right around Christmas because of the mass amount of Christmas orders. I might be the only one working till all obscene hours of the night and missing out on Ugly Sweater holiday parties. I do my best to stay ahead of the game am usually drowning in work. Sometimes I wish I could curl up with some hot chocolate and watch Christmas movies with my family or go drive around town and look at Christmas lights instead of what I am usually doing.

I knew if I didn't close soon enough I wouldn't give myself enough time to actually take a vacation and spend some free time with my amazing and supportive family. Can you blame me? They are pretty adorable after all. I want to apologize in advance for using sweet and precious pictures of my kids to butter you up. Hopefully it's working and you will forget all about the fact that we are closed ;) Did I mention how awesome our next collection is going to be?

Small Business Model

Occasionally I like to talk about Infusionsoft. It's hard not to bring it up every now and then because Whippy Cake is entirely dependent on Infusion's small business software. We use it for everything! It makes me happy. The boss just sent me this video today about Infusionsoft's work environment. I've always appreciated and admired the company's ability to have fun and be creative. It's such a great example of what I hope to achieve some day and a fabulous reminder of what's important. I wouldn't mind working there one bit!!!

When am I not in my boots? Almost never. The Boss doesn't mind so much except when I wear them in bed. Mostly I wear them with my jammies and my hooded sweater jacket when I am working. When I know people are coming over I try to slip into some socially acceptable clothes. People come over unexpectedly all the time so you have probably witnessed the coolness of my over sized J's. No shame or anything :{

Me and the kids have a bit of a slipper fetish. All 3 of us like to wear slippers and we each have at least 3 pair and what better to wear with slippers than jammies? The Boss is slowly getting used to the fact that it's not going to change around here anytime soon.

What are your guilty comfort clothes?

Overwhelemed by LOVE....

We have been completely OVERWHELMED by the LOVE we have felt from the response to our POST last week, asking for your candidates to be pampered for a day.
So let us say a big heart felt "THANK YOU" You did NOT disappoint! We should have known better, you all are so amazing and have the biggest hearts.... Seriously, we have been inundated by letters about the amazing people who have been beyond selfless, they are courageous, and dare we say these ladies are Hero's..
O my Heck! we have been on an emotional RoLlErCoAsTeR, we have felt incredible JOY at the humanity, displayed. And we have shed many a tear while reading about these remarkable women who are Hero's in the lives of the people they touch. I am emotional right now thinking about the fact that we can only pick one... This has been a very difficult, and heart wrenching task, having to narrow it down to one special person... We are soo very humbled by these stories, we want to take care of every single lady! Becki and our little Whippy Cake team can only do so much.....

We have an IDEA!!!

Now, we obviously can't devote a whole day to each candidate, but we would like to spread a little love to each one...
Here is what we are asking for... 3. Budgies! The cutest little mimicking birds ever.

4. This hair cut. I dream of not having to style my own hair.

5. Just Dance 2 for the Wii. I got a taste of Just Dance at my sisters house and I LOVE it! I predict a dance party at my house? 

6. One of these in my tummy. Recently bit by the baby bug. Gotta get me one... like yesterday.

7.  A CDMA Verizon capable white 4G iphone. Needs no explaining. It's just time for it to happen STEVE!!! 

8. This utterly breath taking art print by Leigh Viner.

9.  A cruise. I could really use a vacation. Jamaica maybe?  

10. This outrageously genius and awesome chandelier. Get in my house!!!

Yesterday I failed to post a thought of gratitude because I was with my family. My family is the greatest thing I have to be thankful for. I'm Thankful my husband puts up with me and all my madness. I'm thankful we have two perfect, beautiful kids. I'm thankful I get to be their mom and that I was able to experience the awesome and unforgettable moments of pregnancy. I'm thankful I get to learn from my toddlers every day. I'm thankful that each day is a new day for me to try and be a better wife no matter how many times I fail. I'm thankful the boss is such and awesome daddy and that the babies love him so. I'm thankful the boss is wanting another baby already. I'm thankful for the holidays that bring families closer together. I'm thankful I had a moment to think about how blessed I am to have my precious family. I love them so so so so so so so so soooooo so so sooo so so sooo soo much!!!! I just feel happy.

ps. I'm also thankful to Sierra Studios for doing our family photos this year, regardless of how terrifying we truly were. She somehow was able to pull us together perfectly in our photos. Talent!

No Cake without You

When the day is done and I look back on all that has been accomplished the credit is almost always due to my Whippy Cake girls. I have the best team of ladies dominating Whippy Cake from home in their own special way. Each girl brings so much to the table and helps out in so many ways it's hard to imagine I ever survived without them... Who am I kidding!?!? I WASN'T surviving without them!

At this time of year during the thought provoking moments of gratitude I absolutely MUST give thanks for these ladies and express my gratitude to them. Although I am absolutely terrible and awkward at being sentimental the least I can do is try.

Wendy- My right hand. My brain is mush without you and my heart is full because of you. How much there is to learn from you and how blessed I am to know you. Thanks for always bringing me back around to what is important and for sharing my burdens.

Carli- (my sister) thanks for always being willing to share the stress with me and for always responding to my picture messages and my late night ideas via text and for quitting soda w/ me and then un-quitting soda with me over and over again. You have so sweetly taken on so many roles.

Aubrey- (my other sister) aka - the machine! Nobody dominates like you do and you have rescued me more times than any sister deserves. Thanks for your pep talks and for always keeping me pointed in the right direction.

Lorna- The girl who needs no training. Thank you for being so talented and available and for thriving the way you do. Your optimism astounds me and your perseverance moves me to tears.

Katie- My personal suggestion box. Thank you for your peppy and fun pace and for always being willing to do more at the drop of a hat. You're a fountain of ideas and always anxious to help with anything!

Kelseigh- The only thing sweeter than cake is you. Thank you for being the most dainty and feminine thing a girl can be. Your sweetness and romantic style inspires me time and again and your help is so important to me.

I could honestly go on and on about all the things you each help me with and all the wonderful things I love about each of you. I have a feeling I have only glimpsed a small portion of how fortunate I am to have the help of all of you.

To all you Cake Lovers out there who can't live without your Whippy fix I want you to know that without these girls there would be NO CAKE! Gasp!!! It's true, which is why we should all express how thankful we are to the Whippy Cake Bakers.

Who could forget this little guy?

I want to start out by saying that, I KNOW that our Heavenly Father is the reason why Emmett is healing, and that Prayer and Faith do indeed work! Every time I went into his ICU room, there was an actual physical feeling that came over me.. A feeling of deep peace, like you could just sit there all day. I would cry on the way home from my visits with Emmett and Karla, because that feeling was soo profound! And the minute I left his room I could feel the stark difference. The last time it happened I called Karla, from the parking lot crying like a little baby.. She said that other's, and even the Nursing staff had noticed this feeling as well. All I can say, is that Emmett must have some important work to do here!

Emmett

is HOME!!!

He is a Miracle! From before he was born this little guy has had to fight to be here. We have been watching in awe... Emmett came home this last weekend and even all of his Surgeons, and specialist were shaking their heads in disbelief. Amazed that not only did he survive, but he has (in record time) recovered enough to be home with his family. YES! Emmett is home!

Karla, Michael, and his big brother Ethan would like to thank everyone who prayed for him and their Family, they believe with their whole hearts that FAITH and PRAYER is why he is home today. I got to hear Emmett's raspy little voice this morning, and I couldn't stop the tears!

He still has a long road ahead, but he is up for it! He has occupational, and physical therapy daily, and a special Nurse comes to him once a week. Karla has become his secretary and chauffeur, she said she scheduled 8 appointments for him yesterday. They were with all of his Surgeons, and Specialists, to keep a close eye on him. He is a very important guy!

For now Emmett still has his Esophageal Ostomy, and his feeding tube... Eventually he will have a few more surgeries to reconnect everything. And then after his esophagus remembers how to work he will get his feeding tube out. But don't worry all that isn't getting them down, they are just feeling so utterly blessed to still have him, and in his own bed no less.

Anyone remember last year when I offered a reward for the mysterious boots {HERE}? After months of searching we came up empty handed...

Well, I just had the urge to search again and holy GUACAMOLE I found them!!! Thank you AMAZON! The only down fall is it's 3:45am and I can't call anyone or even scream and run around the studio doing my happy dance. Instead I emailed my sister the link so she can get in on the perfect booties also. Sorry to my blog for being the second to hear the good news. You can bet your britches I added all FOUR colors to my Amazon favorites widget on the left. Are my bold, all caps and large words getting annoying? I use them when I am very VERY excited!

It being 3:45am I almost went crazy and bought them in ALL four colors but reason piped in so I didn't... Or because it's 3:45am I ignored the voice of reason when it told me to buy all four colors. Crap.

Nothing to do now but wait in agony for them to show up on my door. One thing is for sure, when they do get here, I will have a very intimate photo shoot with those suckers on my feet!

The truth is, we have been happily overwhelmed with the volume of your orders, and we just can't accommodate any more. So sorry Cake Lovers... We are, however currently busting our booties to get your orders to you..

I've hardly recovered from the trip to California. *Small tear.

Girls will be girls...

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of visiting the darling miss Aubri. Aubri and I go to the same church and she is as sweet and genuine as they come. What a peach! Aubri is currently a patient at Phoenix Children's Hospital. She is only 16 and has a rare form of stomach cancer but you wouldn't know that anything is the matter if you encountered her bubbly optimistic personality and her upbeat attitude towards life. You can read more about Aubri's story HERE to get to know her a little better.

A friend of mine sent me an email a few weeks ago asking if I would be willing to come play beauty shop at a hospital for a sweet young friend of his. I was so flattered and excited for the invite so we started making plans right away. After a few emails it seemed our two hospitalized friends had so much in common I just had to ask if his friend's name was Aubri and you can bet your britches it WAS. (my excitement multiplies by a bajillion!) "What a small world!" we both agree.

So the day arrives for play time and I decided last minute to pick up one of Aubri's closest friends Katie to accompany me to make the surprise even more exciting. We brought her lot's of goodies including jewelry, a hat and of course some Whippy Cake to make her feel cute and stylish throughout her stay. We also loaded up on craft supplies and magazines from my studio so she could have something to keep her busy. Aubri is an artist! My favorite part was makeover time. Aubri let me do her hair and makeup and it felt just like a slumber party minus the pillow fight. We finished up just in time for her to head down to get a CT. I'm so happy she let me come visit and that she could influence me for the better and remind me to have the same vim and viger for life as she does and of course to be grateful for my health and blessings. It's always humbling when a 16 year old has a better grasp on life and love than I do. I feel very blessed to know her.

As you can guess her stay at the hospital will be ongoing which means she's BORED people! Please feel encouraged to stop by her Facebook page and say hello or you can email and visit her as well. Anything to distract her from the long days is greatly desirable. You can also contribute to her family by making a donation HERE to help pay for gas to and from the hospital and of course other hospital expenses. Most importantly thoughts and prayers are needed the most!

I wish you all had the opportunity and pleasure to meet miss Aubri. She would surely change your life as well. I'm just hoping she invites me back again soon so we can giggle and play some more soon!

Holy Crazy Weekend Batman!

I woke up from my coma this morning with a boutique hangover. Ouch. The weekend was sheer madness. MADNESS I tell you! I'm kind of sad I only got 6 pictures of the whole thing and only because The Boss stopped by and took a few for me.

The Believe boutique was a packed house start to finish and we had a fabulous time getting to know all of our customers. We also got to meet some awesome vendors that I am excited to connect with and maybe even do some giveaways for in the future.

It was exciting to see all the vendors and shoppers wearing their Whippy Cake throughout the halls of the event. There was cake lovers everywhere!

I just want to say Thank You SO MUCH to everyone who stopped by, to the ladies who put the whole thing together and especially to all my girls (Carli, Wendy and Lorna) that were there to support and help with the Whippy Cake booth and also the girls behind the scenes helping from home. I could not have accomplished anything without their help. I also want to thank my husband, The Boss for all of his love, help and support and for bringing my babies by the booth so I could get a few hugs and kisses in.

(My sister Carli who stayed up till 4am w/ me on Friday to replenish our stock for Saturday)

(Our holiday applique tree was a big hit. We hope to add them to our online store by next week!)

Ballerina or Harlequin?

I wanted London and I to be Harlequins for Halloween this year. I have these awesome vintage paintings of these sweet and adorable harlequin children that inspired the idea so I am pretty disappointed in myself for not making it happen. I majorly lacked the time to actually make costumes so I altered some clothes she already had and whipped up some extravagant hair pieces with some random stuff in my studio and we went as... um, pretty? My costume was pretty yawn aside from my AWESOME stripe stockings, so I tried to play it up with my makeup and London's costume looked more like a ballerina so whenever I was asked what she or I were dressed up as I would do my best to change the subject. "I eat good!" or "Ninja!" I don't think the costumes depict a harlequin or a ballerina now that I look at them. LOL

Next year though. Next year I am going to start on costumes in July so it actually happens. You just wait.

(Lo was being extra difficult and refused to hold still for a picture so this is the absolute best picture we captured). Lil' stink!

Little man Kingston was none other than Spiderman. This picture of him totally makes me smile. We asked him to climb the wall and as you can see he absolutely can. Climb Spidy, CLIMB!!!

The huge disappointment was that the Boss didn't dress up this year which means he had no character to take on for the whole day. Which means no acting. Which means no laughing. Which means disappointed!

Meet Emmett....

When I brought this story to Becki, she immediately insisted that we do anything we can to help this Family...

My amazing friend Karla had a miracle baby just over a year ago. His name is Emmett and he was born 11 weeks early at 2 pounds 6 ounces. He's been a fighter since the day he got here, just barely a year ago. And now he's having to fight again....Just about 2 weeks ago Emmett was not feeling well. Not himself. Monday night Karla had a feeling that she needed to sleep in his room with him. The next morning, she noticed that Emmett was having trouble breathing. She took him immediately to Urgent Care, and was then instructed to go to Phoenix Children's Hospital right away. It was discovered that Emmett had swallowed a quarter size battery and it was lodged in his throat. It had already caused damage to his esophagus from the leakage from the battery, and he was rushed into emergency surgery. They are keeping a close eye on him in the PICU, and because of his discomfort level, they have him heavily sedated, and he will stay that way for the next few weeks in order to heal . They will then do reconstructive surgery to correct the damage done to his esophagus. Poor little Emmett, and his sweet parents, have been through so much this past year with Emmett's early birth. And now, they are dealing with this. The Doctors say it is a miracle that he is still with us!

This was a complete accident that Emmett swallowed this battery. That is just what kids do! They put things in their mouths! It's no one's fault. But Emmett's family would like to get the word out. This battery was from the television remote control, much the same as you would find in those greeting cards that play music... These batteries are small and only secured with a little adhesive. They ARE deadly, so watch your little ones, and keep these scary little batteries far far away from them. Also they want us to know that Emmett needs all the prayers he can get right now.. So if you will add another person to your personal prayer roll, please, please pray for Emmett. That he and his Family will be comforted while he is in the hospital. That he will heal . And that they all, his Mommy Karla, dad Michael & big brother Ethan - will feel the strength of our Father in Heaven during this time. We know it works! I finally put together some Halloween displays at our house. Better late than never I always say. Sometimes I get a little resentful that I don't have more free time to enjoy my favorite time of year. Oh well, at least my house will be decorated midway through December when I have time to decorate for Christmas. I am looking forward to carving pumpkins and overdosing on candy this weekend.

I'm going to try much harder to take pictures of our costumes this year.

That would be Kingston in his Bad A$$ underwear. I try not to promote cursing but no other words come to mind when I see this kid running around in his glow in the dark skull underwear.

What does this have anything to do with anything, you ask? We're potty training this week. A task I loath beyond any other motherly duty. It almost makes me think twice about creating any more bed wetting children. It hasn't been pleasant, or clean. For either of us. However, he is getting it and they say it will be worth it. Needless to say it's kept me unavoidably detained and thus I lack other material to post at this time.

Fear not, I have new and better announcements to come including some sneak peeks of the limited edition pieces I will be selling at the upcoming boutiques HERE and HERE. I'm pretty sure you will be pleasantly surprised about the new limited edition pieces. The reviews I've been getting have been ecstatic!

For a trial period of time we will be accepting custom orders again. Holla! We get so many emails requesting custom orders it just breaks our hearts to turn them all away. Especially this time of year when everyone is coordinating family photos and Christmas events. So we're bringing back the option to customize.

I'd like to keep the process as plain and simple as possible so here is how it will work.

- $10 custom order fee (up to 4 appliques)
- Submit custom orders to orders@whippycake.com with "custom order" in the subject line
- include color samples and all order details in the email (any pictures and images will help).
- You will be contact to confirm the order and sent an invoice including the custom order fee.
- orders are not started until after payments are complete
- custom orders take 2-3 weeks minimum.

If you are done laughing now I will continue...

I joined a gym for some much needed away time from the stresses of work and because let us face it, My muscles could use a little stimulation after sitting in the studio day in and day out. The real shocker is I have actually been going to the gym! And I like it. The first couple of days my Nike shoes were really tearing up my feet. So I tell the Boss I need new workout shoes and he says "Maybe you just need to break these ones in." and I said back to him "These are like 4 years old, I got them when we first got married." So he says to me... get this "Yah, but you need to wear them more than 3 or 4 times to wear them in." huh hemmm... I can't repeat what happened after that because this blog is rated G for NO Violence. Embarrassingly enough the man was right. So I stuck it out another week with the Nikes but the Nikes wore me out and not the other way around. So I text the Boss a graphic picture of my bloody socks and shoes and my ouchy foot and he text me back in his queasy grossed out text tone "Yeah u need new shoes-" So glad we agreed that time Boss ;)

I immediately head on over to the shoe store to try on all the latest athletic shoes and one shoe stood out above allllll the rest as far as fit and comfort. That would be the Ryka running shoes. They were simply divine. But I didn't want running shoes (not quite that devoted yet) because I stick to my studio classes. So I go online and do a little research and I am blown away by the concept behind the Ryka shoes and the women who design them and guess what! They have studio shoes! So then I hit up Amazon.com because I know they will have the lowest prices and I buy me the Ryka Studio Flex Low in Black.

They got to me in TWO days and my feet have been pampered ever since. So that is why you will find my Ryka shoes in my Amazon List of Favorites in the left sidebar. I'm obsessed. Currently converting my sisters over to the dark side. And when I say dark side I mean Black because I think black athletic shoes are sophisticated and sexy and they go with everything (because when you are red, hot and sweaty at the gym at least your shoes still look good). That last bit about the dark side and sexy workout shoes may be a bit of fluff... But aren't they pretty?

Ok. Shutting up now.

Disclaimer: Apologies to the Boss for throwing him under the bus for what he said about me not working out. Ever. In his defense he was right and he meant it in the sweetest way possible. The truth hurts, (sorry I punched you babe! jk) I don't punch. Anymore.

I just wanted to send out a great big “Thank You!!” to all these fabulous women who helped me to feel like a “queen for the day!” I am overwhelmed by the kindness shown to me by complete strangers, please know that you have made such an impact in my life and I will forever be grateful! I felt like a kid in the candy store visiting Domestic Bliss—what a wonderful boutique with so many unique offerings! I so love my new clothes (my 11yr old daughter’s comment: “Wow mom, you really do have some fashion sense!”) Thank you Kristin for inviting me to your store and for the gift certificate! Kelsey, you are a doll and I LOVE, LOVE my new haircut and color! My toes are still a beautiful sparkling violet, so fun—Thanks to Emily! Mique found me on Twitter and then when she told me about their HUGE boutique at the Del Mar Hilton right on the beach in San Diego, I was like "Say Whaaaat!?!" So Whippy Cake will be there to be sure. (I bet you all have figured out I'm a last minute planner by now. )

There are so many exciting new things and changes with Whippy Cake right now I am disappointed I don't have enough time to post about all of them right now. Let's just say next week will be full of announcements, news and chatter.

But! Today I get to announce that Whippy Cake will be a vendor at the 6th annual Believe - A Holiday Boutique in Chandler. The flier tells the details better than I can but if you click on the website you can view the list of the vendors attending and see pictures of booths from previous years.

To put it frankly this is the biggest baddest wolf of boutiques in the valley and there is no way Whippy Cake would miss it. Just ask Jami, we practically forced her to let us in or else ;)

My favorite thing about this years boutique is they started a Facebook page so you can read post and comments from all the vendors and the attendees. Awesome idea! Every time I stop by the fb page I get all hyped up about going all over again! Maybe I will see you there.

Something Blue

I've been swept away by many different projects and events lately but one of them was particularly special for me. My fav. buddy Rennai is getting married in less than a month and I have the pleasant privilege of being her Maid of Honor. I was elated to host a bridal shower for her at the beginning of the month and I've been all jiggered about sharing some of the pictures on my blog. I was beside myself planning this party for her because I wanted it to be memorable and special for her. I really wanted to pay attention to every detail (not a strong quality of mine). With how busy I've been I was worried I wouldn't be able to pull it off but Rennai was very happy when all was said and done which made me EXTRA happy! My top favorite things about the party were as follows...

1. The lovely Bride to Be. She really is one of the most beautiful people I know! I'm so very lucky to know her :)

2. The CAKES!!! Oh my word! The cakes by Shye were unbelievable! (No, really. The guest did not believe the cakes were real) Once you get past how undeniably perfect they look it's almost unimaginable how great they taste. She also threw in some decadent cake balls and chocolate covered pretzels. Mmh Mmh Mmmmmmmh!

3. I was particularly proud of myself for making the party favors, especially after I cheated and purchased all the food instead of baking anything. I was making a few homemade terrariums for my studio with mini bird nests when I had the idea to use them for my party favors. I lucked out and found just enough bird nests, faux birds and sea-foam beads for the earrings for everyone on the guest list. It was super quick and easy to make and assemble all the earrings and place them in the nests with the little whimsical birds on top I just might need to add them to my store. A pat on the back for me.

It was so nice to mix and mingle with all of Rennai's closest friends and family and I really enjoyed their company. I appreciated all the help and kind words as well. It was a beautiful little party with very beautiful people. I'm so glad I got to be a part of it and I'm so happy for Rennai and this very exciting step in her life. Love love LOVE you buddy!!!

I just happened on a new product a few weeks ago in the checkout isle of Sephora. It's called No Frizz Straight Styling Cream by Living Proof.
The product really sells itself so to demonstrate here is a before and after shot of the effect No Frizz has on my hair. The before shot is my hair just after it's blown dry. #26 Reveal

Remember when I turned 26 and I did 26 RAOK's {see here} but then saved the 26th random of act of kindness to be disclosed on a future date to be decided by myself? Well, today is that day!

When I was planning my 26 RAOK's I discussed it many a times with Wendy. I confided in Wendy that above all I desperately wanted to impact someone's life for the better and give them something they could always remember. I wanted to find someone selfless and deserving. The kind of person that puts others needs above their own. Wendy, immediately listed several people she knew off the top of her head that fit that mold that were ultimately deserving of something really special. Wendy has a talent for getting to know people and recognizing what is special about each person. When she told me about Tammy I agreed that her circumstances paired with her charisma more than qualified her to be the receiver of my 26th RAOK.

Here is a little history on Tammy:

4 1/2 Years ago Tammy's husband Allen suffered a Grand Maul seizure during a church activity. Through extensive testing he was diagnosed with a large brain tumor and immediately underwent brain surgery 3 days later. He has subsequently undergone more surgeries and treatments for the tumor. Throughout treatment he has been unable to work and the family lost their business, and they are desperately trying to hang on to their current home. Even more recently Allen has started suffering from debilitating seizures more frequently and a recent scan of his brain showed new growth of the tumor just a few months ago. He has since been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. You can imagine the struggle Tammy and Allen have undergone these past years as a couple and as parents as well. Tammy spends her nights and days taking care of her sweetheart and her children with the constant companion of endless worry, hospitals stays and her continuous effort to stay optimistic. She is a very kind and charitable girl who rarely finds cause to speak negative words about anyone or anything. Tammy is always taking care of others and is the first to volunteer to serve. Taking care of herself on the other hand or doing extra girly things never makes her to-do list. Recently she also had a surgery of her own and still is awaiting the test results. I'm constantly surprised by her ever positive and strong enthusiasm for life. She truly is amazing!

I think we can all agree that Tammy is in need of some relaxation, pampering and even some glam. This is where we come in. After much planning and plotting and soliciting the help of some fabulous vendors we put together the perfect day for sweet Tammy.

Wendy picked up Tammy on a Tuesday morning and escorted her to Domestic Bliss where I met up with the two of them. Kristen generously donated a $100 gift certificate so that Tammy could shop for herself. Between the 3 of us we had a hard time narrowing it down between all of the fabulous selections at DB. Eventually Tammy was able to commit to an awesome ensemble as you can see by the smile on her face.

We then headed to Sweet Cakes just up the street for a bite to eat. Nothing better to recover from shopping than gourmet sandwiches and giant freshly baked cookies!

Our next stop was Habit Salon where Tammy was greeted by Kelsey for a cut and color consult. Tammy picked out a truffle brown hair color and a sexy cut with long layers and long bangs. I was beaming to see Tammy enjoying her time being pampered in the salon. Kelsey always does such a professional and fantastic job styling her clients and is as sweet as they come.

After Tammy's cut and color we relocated to my house where Tammy could sit back and relax while Emily bestowed the gift of Tammy's first set of glitter toes. I love that Emily makes house calls and that she is undeniably affordable and her color selection would make a rainbow shy away in jealousy. Check out the awesome lavender shade Tammy picked out for her toes!

During the glitter toes I did a makeup consult with Tammy to enhance her youthful skin and sparkling eyes. Tammy is a natural beauty but it was fun to play it up with makeup for some added glam.

We were so fortunate to have Connie B. accompany us every where we went to document the special day with her photography skills. She did a bang up job capturing the day and the effort from all the volunteers. By the end of the night Tammy was glowing with rejuvenated confidence and loveliness and lucky for us Connie was there to capture the final look.

All in all I feel that it was a successful day and my hope is that Tammy was able to enjoy just one day where she was the one being taken care of. She is such a beautiful person and she deserves even more than we were able to provide for her in such a short day. I hope she and Allen will be able to enjoy the pictures and the memory for a long time.

I really wanted to express appreciation to the sponsors who really made this day possible. Each was eager to participate and eager to give unquestioningly and without charge. To me that speaks volumes.

Update: in the passing weeks of this glamorous experience Tammy and her family have received some happy news. The recent radiation treatments for Allen have been successful at keeping the tumor at bay enough for him to cease chemo for the time being. They are so delighted by this great news and so are we and we will continue to pray for them unceasingly!

Meet Collin & Ashlee. I've admired this couple before they were even a couple and I am so excited to turn my blog over to Ashlee today so she can share their story with you. Ashlee impresses and inspires me so much with her fabulous style and unwavering enthusiasm for life despite their struggles with infertility. I long to be more like the both of them to put it frankly. I'm blessed to know them just as you will be as well...

Very few things in life give me as much joy as feeling attractive, having good friends, and the thought of motherhood. I feel like by sharing my story on Whippy Cake I'm killing all 3 of those blissful birds with one stone because who doesn't feel completely adorable when wearing a Glamour Band, who on this earth could be a better friend than Becki, and how much fun will it be to share with you my feelings on motherhood/infertility/adoption?!

In case you're stumped, the answer to those questions are nobody, nobody, and so fun.

So, you may know several fertile Myrtles, I know I do, however I'm here to introduce myself to you as an infertile Girdle. That's right, I said infertile and girdle in the same sentence. But it's true, between my husband and me, the odds of us conceiving children are about as good as the Diamondbacks winning The World Series this season. (In case you haven't been following baseball for the past few months, the D-backs are 64-95 this seasons). Yep, my ovaries laugh at the thought of ovulation, and C's sperm have been on more vacations than Donald Trump. No baby makin' is in our future. And though I am able to light-heartedly joke about it now, it hasn't always been so funny.

We went through a period of mourning, I felt loads of anger for a brief time, and sadness has seemed to creep in at the most inopportune times. Several things have gotten us through the rough patches, but the one I'm here to tell you about is adoption. We explored our every option; Clomid (a hot flash in a bottle), in vitro fertilization, artificial insemination, sperm donors, egg donors, and a bajillion others. Along with considering those, we also immediately considered adoption. My 2 oldest brothers are adopted and I've seen first hand how adopted children can complete a family, so it was always on the plate for us. And after lots of doctor advice, parent advice, thought, and prayer, we decided that adoption was the way to go.

We went to our orientation meeting in early July, and we are officially certified for adoption as of last Wednesday! It was a short, yet some how so long, 3 month process to get certified, but oh so worth it. Being certified, we are now able to adopt a child whenever the time is right, and whenever a birth mother deems us the right fit to raise her child. We are excited about this prospect and we know how big of a miracle adoption is and we are super pumped that we will hopefully get to experience it.

i just decided a few things in the last 10 minutes.

starting now i will refer to my husband as "boss" or "the boss". not because he bosses me around or anything but because he keeps a handle on everything that goes on around our house and that is very much what a boss does. also that would in kind dub me mrs. boss which is boss.
starting now i am discontinuing the use of capital letters in all forms of writing and text. (consider this my pre-apology to all those who will be annoyed by this, including you boss)
starting now i will refrain from using chat abbreviations like "lol", "omg" and "brb". i don't really have a reason for abstaining from the use of these cute little shorties, i guess i just want to see if i can actually quit using them.
starting now zappos is my favorite place to shop online. their customer service is unbelievable and worth blogging about.

some things i am undecided on as of now...

whether or not "haha" is considered a chat abbreviation. i'm leaning towards no.
whether or not the boss will be upset about his new title.
whether or not i will keep my hair red through the end of the year.
whether or not i should post sneak peaks of rennai's bridal shower i am hosting on saturday or if i should wait and do a grand reveal after.

My Hair Red

I did it.

After five years straight of blonde (my longest record) at 3pm today I become a redhead. It took me 3.5 months to finally just commit to it but now it is done. {Thanks again Kelsey!} The best part is my husband did not freak out. He said "I prefer it blonde but you look good in anything". Can I get an "awwwee!" ?

Dirty Bottles and Shakira

Currently we have a display of old vintage bottles on our dining room table. I'll grant that it's not the most creative effort I can muster but lets be honest, the only reason I have a centerpiece is so that the table doesn't become the designated area for junk to collect. My husband disapproves of the vintage glass bottles because they look old and dirty. Like everything he dislikes he is threatening to throw them away. MY vintage bottles that I hunted down in an antique mall in Utah. I told him if he touched them I would terrorize his Shakira poster from Brazil... Oops. That inspired his next train of thought. Now he thinks that if I get to display my ugly bottles, he can display his Shakira poster. In the dinning room. Awesome.

What do you think? Is it worth it to pack up my bottles or do you think I can tolerate Shakira peering down at me while we eat? Classy.

Whippy Cake store opening this Wednesday in Gilbert

...that sounded more official than " I will be opening my house on Wednesday for customers to come and try on and shop our current inventory." Which is the actual truth. I'm not sure I could handle owning/running an actual store but I definitely don't mind meeting those of you who would like to come over and shop in person.

Anyways, we receive lots of emails asking if we sell locally or if there is anyway to try on our Appliques and Headbands so I thought I would try opening my doors to you shoppers out there to cater to those of you wanting a more personal shopping experience. I put together another possible palette to go with my Whypsy Gypsy applique which is from the Simmer Town collection and you better believe I would be buying both ensembles if the Mister allowed it. I think it's easy to guess why I named this piece Whypsy Gypsy, the gem tone colors and the gold adornments just beg to be worn with jumbo hoop earrings and lots of fringe don't ya think?

Eye Kandy Demo

I discovered the wonderful product Eye Kandy while attending Swiss Days. I have to admit I am like a 5 year old when it comes to glitter. I just can't seem to help myself. I purchased several colors for myself and I have been itching to share a quick demo with you.

I hope you can see why it has so quickly become one of my favorite cosmetics now.

I get distracted by things that sparkle, don't you? This is an ubber easy and fast project I did with my nieces this weekend.

Supplies

-canvas tote
-glitter
-Tulip Glitter Bond
-freezer paper
-iron
-exacto knife/mini scissors
-pen or pencil
-paint brush
-small bowl or container for mixing glitter *optional
-plain paper *optional

Trace your image onto freezer paper and cut it out. Keep the stencil and any small pieces needed to complete the image aside. It helps to mark the pieces you can throw away with crayon or something. Iron the shiny side of the freezer paper to your tote or a shirt or whatever you want to glam up. Brush a thick coat of Tulip Glitter Bond over your stencil. Dust a heavy layer of glitter of the glitter bond. (I mixed black and yellow glitter for a two tone effect.) Shake the loose glitter onto a plain sheet of paper and funnel it back into the glitter container. Let the glittered tote sit for 5 min. or dry it with a blow dryer on low. (I applied a second coat of glitter bond as a top coat to protect the glitter from flaking.) When the glitter is dry enough to touch peel off the freezer paper. Lots of you inquire about the products I love and use so I thought that from now on it would be fun to spotlight and feature my favorite products that I use regularly.

Try not to be grossed out by my close up pictures when I talk about this product that is completely new to me. I am so incredibly excited to post about it, excited enough to share embarrassing graphic pictures of my makeup free face and gigantic exposed pores. I have large and unattractive pores that I inherited from genetics. Last time I was at Sephora I was testing several different products that would conceal my pores when I was introduced to Dr. Brandt Pores No More pore refiner. I was so impressed I bought it right then and didn't even think to look at the price! $45 Ouch, but oh so worth it! Pores No More doubles as a filler for your pores as well as a primer to even out skin tone and texture. It is so divinely silky and light it's absolutely decadent on your skin. I Love it because I can truly put a light layer on as a quick cover up and still look suitable for the public when I don't have time to apply foundation or makeup. The serum is concentrate with a hint of neutral color and a very tiny bit goes a very long way so one bottle will be sure to last an exceptionally long time. You can see in the close up of the before and after pictures that the product really stands on it's own. I don't have any concealer or makeup on in either picture and I didn't touch up the photos but the improvement is so dramatic!

I was also given a free sample of Dr. Brandt's Pore No More Vacuum Cleaner which is an intense mask like serum you apply over your pores. After you apply it you let it sit for 5-10 minutes while it dries and sucks out all the icky gunk from your pores and then you remove with hot water or a warm wet towel. I was impressed by the Vacuum Cleaner serum but probably won't opt to get it until I can budget for it ;)

I know this isn't the most glamorous product I could feature but for me my pores are such an insecurity that this product has instantly become a favorite and of course a necessity!

Here's a little story, I know you've never heard. It's a true story with a very happy ending.

Once upon a time there was a girl with a crooked eye. Her eye looks acceptable cosmetically and all but her vision is quite the opposite. For most of her life she was diagnosed incorrectly and given prescriptions for glasses but none of them have actually resolved her vision woes. Because the tension of the muscle in her right eye is tighter than the tension in her left eye her vision in that eye pulls inward therefore making it impossible for her eyes to work in unison to make one clear picture. Instead the things she sees are terribly confusing, blurry or double. The confusion of images relayed to her brain often leave her with painful headaches and an unhappy attitude. Not wanting to let her eye get the best of her she developed her own crutches to get by with the annoying nag of an eye. She discovered that closing one eye would alleviate the double vision so long as the right eye remained clamped shut. She also found that intense focused squinting would satiate bombarding and conflicting images her eyes send to her brain. In some circumstances (when no one is there to witness) she will even secure random articles of clothing and accessories over the handicapped eye in place of an eye patch (rrrgh matey!) to give her mind a break from the world of chaos her eyes propose together. After years of frustration the girl was referred to a specialist who unbeknown to her was about to change her life forever. She waited the long amount of time (10 weeks) for her turn to meet with the specialist, hoping but also not expecting too much out of the visit. After some blinding test and some uncomfortable treatments a new diagnosis was made. The doctor revealed that her circumstance was not permanent and that her vision could be restored by a perfectly safe operation. She was elated! She wanted to leap into the lap of the blessed man who bore her such fabulous news and kiss him on his bald head (at least she thinks he was bald, she couldn't really see that well). Instead she said "Oh, how nice." as she smiled to herself and ignored the terrified cries of the other patients being mauled by Kingston in the waiting room. The doctor was then replaced by his assistant who scheduled the girl's operation. She left stunned and in awe that in just two weeks the plague of double vision will be lifted from her life and she will finally be able to do away with her makeshift eye patches and squinting faces. She is officially one HAPPY girl!

Doing Human Things

Excuse my absence on this here blog, I've been out doing human things, for once. My sisters and I took a mini trip to Utah to surprise my family again and retreat from our kids. We planned it so we would be there for Swiss Days in Midway where my parents live. This was my first Swiss Days experience and I was not disappointed one bit. We spent two days looking, eating and shopping at all the booths and I can't wait to share some of the new products and vendors I found there. Fresh strawberries and cream was a mandatory pit stop several times a day.

I was also able to spend some time with my twin and gave him a big fat kiss!

After the madness of Swiss Days I pretty much read books the rest of the time. Real books too, with actual pages and not the ones you listen to with head phones like I usually do. 4 books later I almost couldn't stop myself from reading. The 1st book I read was The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner followed by the MUCH talked about series Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, which exceeded my expectations and clutched me in it's intense action packed pages. I will be reading them several more times in the near future.

I came back to work for one day then was swept away to San Diego by my husband and kids for the weekend. We stayed with one of our favorite couples, Buddy and Sara and their two kids Chloe and Max. We spent day 1 at the San Diego Zoo

and day 2 at the beach. It was lovely weather both days and our children were actually pleasant and mildly well behaved. I still miss the salty thick air on my face and skin and can't wait to go back.

Sadly after missing more than a week of work I am wildly behind, ill and stressed for time and energy to catch up so I'm afraid that's all for now peeps! Love ya!

Saying Thank You.....

Hello all, it's me Wendy blogging for you today... I know you LOVE the amazing Miss Becki, but I hope you will be inspired by what I have to share today....

The importance of two little words...Thank You... This small phrase can validate, inspire, and can also give peace and closure. We all probably have Thank you's that have not yet been said or sent, so I encourage you to take care of some of those "Thank You's" today. It feels good, it continues the love cycle!! After all the kind things we have been running around trying to do for others, you have to admit it is nice to hear, and helps us to feel the love a little more.. Maybe it's a selfish thing to want to hear those words, but I am pretty sure, everybody wants to hear them..
I have been blessed in my life with examples of Charity, my Family and I have had numerous acts of kindness done in our behalf, we are always THANKFUL, but sometimes they have been anonymous, which means thanking gets a little tricky. Recently my Hubby dropped his wallet at a Crowded sports complex. It had all the usual important things like ID, important numbers, credit cards, and a whopping $70.00 in cash. We were pretty bummed about the cash, especially at that time, it was a lot of dough for us, and it was much needed. Anyway, by the time my Husband had traced, and retraced his steps, and we made all the necessary calls to cancel our cards, a very GOOD Samaritan had driven the 20+ minutes to our address and left his wallet outon the hood of our car.. Everything was the way it had been left, including the $70... No note, just pure humble kindness.. We thanked our Heavenly Father, I cried like a baby, and my children learned another lesson about LOVE... we were so happy, not only because of the money and hassle it saved us, but we were deeply touched that someone would be so selfless, for us. That act continues to affirm what we already believed, and how we continue to live this life..

The #1 best way to THANK these secret Hero's, is to turn right around and spread the LOVE...and we will.

But for today I would like to publicly Thank whomever it was that weekend, who became our hero...

OK, While I was writing this post something hit me like a ton of bricks... Today is the day,

I have goose bumps......

There is a Thank you that I have never been able to properly say...

An anniversary of a Thank you that has still gone Unsaid....

I need to say Thank you to someone who saved my life, literally saved me when I was 7 yrs old. I was in a car accident with my parents and my little sister, it was September 8th, 1979, on a 2 lane Highway. It turned into a Horrifying day, but a day that Hero's were born.. My Dad was one of them. (But that is another story) so Yes it was many years ago, but I see it in mind like it was yesterday.. The truck was on fire, my Dad, broken and fading on the road, our sweet Mommy and little Sister already gone... My pretty long hair, that mom had put into French braids for our trip, my back and shoulder and new outfit were burning too. I leaned my head out of the crumpled Chevy, and started screaming, it felt like an eternity, an eternity of strangers staring at me, when finally some guy, just a regular looking guy (my Hero that Day) came running over to the wreckage and flames, reached in and pulled me out. To this day I don't know if he injured himself while saving me, I don't know how he could have done what he did without being burned too, but I do KNOW he risked his own life to save mine...
It was a sad, and tragic day, yet it was filled with miracles that have blessed the lives of my Dad and I ever since... so on this Anniversary, now it's a day past, I would like to Thank that Man who wasn't thinking of himself when he pulled me out of a burning nightmare. I Thank You, my Family, Husband and Children Thank You ...

I know one day that I will see you again, even if it's not in this Life, I feel confident I will recognize you, and I will wrap my arms around you, and Thank YOU! :)

26 Reasons I feel Happy!

This year was hands down the most beautiful, happy, memorable and easily the most exhausting birthday I've ever had and I hope to never forget it. It went a little something like this:

1. Started the day off with a 26% OFF special at whippycake.com

2. Woke up early (on a Saturday!!!) so I could actually shower, which in and of itself was a random act of kindness towards my bed buddy (showers are a special occasion for me, gross but true). Then I made supreme pancakes with fresh strawberries, whip cream, bacon and eggs. I almost never make breakfast so even though it was second breakfast for everyone in the house I'm hoping they enjoyed it because I made so much they had to eat it for lunch too.

3. I dropped off some cupcakes and a card at my post office for all my guys who have my back and treat me well. They call me "whippy" or "whippy cakes" so that's why they got cupcakes.They probably get sick of seeing me several times every week but I'm not going anywhere.

4. I purchased a book of stamps while at the post office and asked the clerk to give them to a random customer with a card full of my best wishes.

5. I hit up Costco and loaded up on Dr. Pepper, Red Vines, Gum, and fresh chips and salsa and took them to my community fire department with my pocket full of sunshine, Miss Jessi. The plan was to leave them at the front desk or something but I guess they don't have a front desk. Instead we were greeted by a pack of dudes who were bored on a slow day. They were fired up about the GINO load of gum and then I pretty much imploded inside when they offered to give us a grand tour. I'd never been to a fire department orrrr seen a fire truck up close so it was unexpected and beyond super awesome! I learned so much about what they do and how much they sacrifice so I promised myself to devote a super post to them later with all the juice.

6. Delivered flowers to someone brave who I admire.

7. Placed cards with happy wishes and tidings full of sunshine on random cars throughout the day.

8. Delivered crayons, markers colored pencils, notebooks, bubbles, giant toy balls, play dough, jelly bracelets and Glamour Bands to the pediatric unit at Mercy Gilbert Hospital. They have a special closet where the mini patience get to pick out something special after they have a painful procedure done. I learned that they always need donations wink* wink*.

9. Skipped on up to Labor and Delivery on the 3rd floor of Mercy Gilbert and donated 20 more unique Glamour Bands for the newborn babies and the mommies. Stopped and stared at the newborns through the window for 5 minutes. Then realized the boy babies got screwed and I am feeling really guilty about that so I promise to go back with something great for them. (special thanks to Jessi and Carli for helping me whip out so many Glamour Bands on Saturday.)

10. Purchased 2 dozen roses and had the nurses give them away to the particularly lonely patients in the ICU.

11. Dropped off a Thank You card and candy bars to Richard my go to Business Banker who saves my life on a weekly basis.

12. Dropped off bulk bag of dog treats to the Healing Hearts & Animal Sanctuary with a tray of cupcakes for the volunteers.

13. Purchased gift cards to Circle-K and Little Caesars Pizza with a thank you card for the LDS Missionaries.

14. Purchased movie tickets, popcorn and candy for a deserving couple.

15. Dropped off a MONDO apple pie at the Urgent Care that frequently treats my children.

16. Arranged for my sister Aubrey to purchased man food (soda, beef jerky and candy bars) for her husband to take to work at the police station he works for. (I never was a positive influence for healthy nutrition).

17. Made a silly video for my twin brother to show him how much I miss not spending our birthday together like we should. Brad on a Stick is the next best thing I suppose.

18. Took my kids to the seminary building by my house and had them pass out candy bars to a class of teenagers. I also passed out blank cards to them and requested they do a random act of kindness for someone who could use a happy moment. Brother Goodman was the happiest teacher I've ever met and I wanted to sit right down and join his class.

19. Took a box of ice cold bottles of Gatorade to a group of construction workers by my house.

20. Purchased 26 balloons and walked around the store with a "Free Balloons" sign and gave one to every child we saw.

21. Purchased a $10 Circle-K and asked the clerk to give it to a future customer.

22. Bought Panda Express for the person behind me in the drive through line.

23. Saw two police cars at Chick Fil A so I pulled over and purchased two gift cards and had the clerk hand them to the two gentlemen after I left. (got a soft spot for the officers because I'm a bug fan of my Bro. In Law who is on the force as well, they totally don't make as much as they should!)

24. Learned how to send care packages to our military troops through AnySoldier.com. Mine includes new poker cards, card games and poker chips as well as hygiene products and of course letters of appreciation. The site runs by 110% volunteer work and makes it easy to find troops by where they are located, what they need and how recently they have received care packages. You get to read letters from them as well. I am super excited I found the site and can't wait to become a regular sponsor.

25. Put together a Whippy Cake package for my pediatrician because she is as cute and sweet as they come and she gives my kids the best care I could ask for.

26. This one is a top secret and sensitive endeavor that will be revealed at a later date but I promise it will be rewarding to all of us and worth the wait.

So that's it, kind of wish I was older because that doesn't seem like very much but here are some things I learned:

- The weekends make it harder to serve the public, like teachers, construction workers etc.

- Call ahead if and when possible.

- The bigger your posse of do gooders the more you can get done.

- don't leave chocolate in your car in AZ for more than a minute.

- Explaining why you would like the clerk to give x, y or z to the next random customer always sounds awkward and a little crazy no matter how many times you try it or how you word it.

- Anonymous giving is my FAVORITE!

- A day of RAOK will induce a coma on anyone.

- I am not and should never be a film maker. Ever.

- All the businesses around us and their employees do not get the appreciation they deserve.

- Krispy Kreme closes at 9:55pm not 10pm like they tell you on the phone and no amount of begging or pouting through the window will get them to open up.

- It's ok to have a bad hair day on your birthday.

- Family, friends and neighbors are awesome, especially awesome to serve and celebrate with!

- Most importantly, and I really mean this, the act of kindness doesn't and shouldn't need to be a special occasion. I couldn't believe the feelings I felt from just ONE day of service and I am embarrassed I don't take advantage of opportunities more frequently. I could be even more happy than I already am so why wouldn't I?!?!

-I was also painfully aware of how often others' kind deeds towards me go unnoticed and that I also fail to really share and express my appreciation to those who help and serve me. It definitely didn't feel good during the instances where my deeds were pushed aside or went unnoticed so I want to be vividly aware of others needs and deeds around me from now on.

- I missed my twin :(

Tomorrow I turn 26. Ouch. I liked being 16 where my biggest concern was of course boys. Oh well, I suppose I should grow up. Tomorrow is my birthday and it came out of no where. I dreamed of all the things I would do for other people on my birthday but I don't think I have enough time to cure cancer or solve world hunger. So I will be focusing on the little things I can do. My Biggest concern is getting other people involved. Are you planning something kind? I hope you all do, but not just for my birthday or because I'm asking you too, but because I want that happiness to fill your hearts that always comes after being kind to others. That will be the best part about tomorrow, knowing that individuals everywhere will be feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Like {this} commercial or {this} and {this} one. Hope those give you some ideas. I've always felt like the smallest deeds speak the loudest. And the best part is you never know if you'll change someones day, week, year or life even! I expect this will be the best birthday for me ever. Can't wait!

The Ugly Truth

Well, I know my blog has been a big let down as of late. I feel like a big disappointment. The truth of it is Whippy Cake is kicking my trash. It owns me and almost every minute of my spare time. I hate saying that because I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me and I especially don't want anyone to think I am seeking pity but I also feel like I should shed a little light on reality. Owning a business is tough stuff. There is so much to it that any one person could ever handle alone. I have hired the best people I know to help out and I still feel like I can't get ahead of the game. I've been feeling a little defeated lately. Normally I have a "I can do anything" attitude but recently it's been more of a "Just get through today" attitude. You can't possibly know how hard it is for me to admit that, especially on the world wide web but I have thought about it long and hard and I think that it's important for people to know the icky stuff too. I'm constantly asked "How do you do it?" and inside I say to myself "I'm not, I don't, I can't". If anyone has the idea that my life is 100% glamorous all the time then I hope this post isn't too disappointing.

It's not that work has piled higher than usual, I think I'm just running out of steam. I think people do that every now and then. I'm hoping any day now my Super Woman complex will return to me and I will have the devotion and energy to handle everything with my "I'm gonna Kick Ass" attitude I usually adopt. In the mean time I apologize for my particularly unpleasant personality and lack of energy.

Again, I don't mean to be a pessimist or a dolly downer. I just thought you should know that even the girl behind Whippy Cake has her ups and downs every once in a while. Being under the weather hasn't helped either but prayer is always uplifting and I do have the best people around me and the sweetest kisses from Miss Messes and Mr. Karate Chop. The good news is it has been a really REALLY long time since I felt like this and that makes me feel blessed, plus I was probably long over due for negative bout. I'm looking forward to a bright return with the long awaited video tutorials and a giveaway from a new vendor you will ALL freak over.

Random Acts Of Kindness can take very little time and cost you absolutely nothing!

Have you ever noticed that you can change the tone in the room if you walk in smiling, you know what I'm talkin about; actually making eye contact and then flashing a genuine smile.

I have noticed! I recently had the opportunity to visit NYC, it was amazing and the people were so good to us. I had a Subway pass and we road the train most places, rarely taking a cab. What I noticed about the local people is that they would keep their eyes down, careful not to strike up unwanted conversation with a some dorky tourist, (like me). But I decided that I was going to make it my mission to get every person who made eye contact with me to smile...( much to the dis~comfort of my SUPER COOL cousin Barton, who calls New York his home.) He started sitting a little further away from my girlfriend and I, and would play Plants verses Zombies on his iPhone. Anyway, I really did succeed at getting almost every person who had the good FORTUNE of looking my way to smile... And I am pretty sure it made their day a little brighter, which in turn hopefully affected others that they encountered. the one thing I know for sure is it made my day better!!! It was so exciting when someone with a grump face would smile back at me. :)

Becki is going to start her own ROAK's in honour of her upcoming Birthday. This is just a small and easy way to celebrate with her!

Try it this week, if you encounter someone, anyone, especially some tired soul who is being grumpy or rude, just give them your most fabulous smile, I promise it will change their attitude, even if they refuse to show it to you, it WILL affect how they treat themselves and others.

And you will definitely be making your own day better!

You're probably aware by now that I get a little carried away with YouTube videos some times. I can't really help it. If you have a computer and high speed internet it's almost impossible to avoid them. They are EVERYWHERE man! So I pass along my favorites. Some are funny, some are weird, some are sad, and some are inspiration. It being my birthday month and all I want to try and focus a little more on the inspirational videos to get you in the RAOK mood. So I was clicking along all these great and inspirational videos I plan to post this month when I came across the following video.

I'm a baby because I cry every single time. It's so disturbing but so true. The thing with this video though is it doesn't just apply to parents. Anyone can be an influence on a child whether it's good or bad. It really makes me think that it's not just about not being a bad influence but how we can really show them just how good/kind they can be. I know this blog is expected to be about accessories, hair tutorials and other light mellow fun stuff but sometimes I gotta include a little bit about what's really important otherwise I lose sight of it myself. "Children See. Children do." Is one of the best tag lines ever. I'm having it tattooed to my brain as I type. Hope it gets your wheels a turning.

I will keep it short and simple for today. Pretty much can't go wrong with this piece. It's the perfect pop of color to compliment your black or gray outfit or it's the perfect way to add some maturity to a baby blue ensemble. The light blue is translucent and shimmery and it's paired with tiny black jail stripes and a gray cheetah print material. I love jail stripes! I want them on my clothes, in my hair, on my walls and of course on my website. I named it Jail Bait because it should be illegal to look this good.

This Handsome guy is Davis Cox.... He is your average Sports-crazed Boy, totally active and super good looking! Last March Davis contracted a virus, which resulted in Aplastic Anemia. You can read more HERE about what the last six months has been like for Davis and his Family while living with this very rare disease. The disease compromises your immune system, and does make everyday activities dangerous. So basically it has completely changed all of their lives! But it hasn't gotten them down.

What has totally impressed us about Davis's story is his up-beat attitude! He is one amazing young Man! You can read his very own inspirational words here.

The Cox Family has been over-whelmed by community support, and attribute being able to cope better with this difficult trial to all who have helped. We love all the examples of individuals who are doing what they can to help.

When Becki told me to take a look at this story that she originally read about on Leelou Blogs, I was seriously struck by the fact that Davis is so close in age to my young Nephew who is also struggling with Aplastic Anemia. We just want to help!

We feel so strongly that we can all make a difference. Just saying a little Prayer is something we ALL can do, and it doesn't cost us a thing. I myself have recently been trying to come up with ways to get the word out about this disease. AWARENESS is what we really need, which will encourage more funding for research, and hopefully a cure someday. So please, in this instance we want you to be a BIG-MOUTH, COPYCAT, and spread the Word!!!
