Dirty Bottles and Shakira

Currently we have a display of old vintage bottles on our dining room table. I'll grant that it's not the most creative effort I can muster but lets be honest, the only reason I have a centerpiece is so that the table doesn't become the designated area for junk to collect. My husband disapproves of the vintage glass bottles because they look old and dirty. Like everything he dislikes he is threatening to throw them away. MY vintage bottles that I hunted down in an antique mall in Utah. I told him if he touched them I would terrorize his Shakira poster from Brazil... Oops. That inspired his next train of thought. Now he thinks that if I get to display my ugly bottles, he can display his Shakira poster. In the dinning room. Awesome.

What do you think? Is it worth it to pack up my bottles or do you think I can tolerate Shakira peering down at me while we eat? Classy.

You could relocate the bottles maybe. That would probably also mean less dusting for you!

Its a toss up. The bottles look great as the centerpiece and the poster would take away the cuteness of your dining room. Maybe try and work around his compromise. leave the bottles and display something else in the dining room that he likes?

Ugh, why do they do this to us?! I'm having flashbacks of what my husband's apartment looked like when we first met. Eeeeek!!! I'd tell him the bottles stay, Shakira poster goes. And to make up for his devistating loss, Shakira (aka you) will make an appearance right before bed ;) I'm guessing it will make him start to like those bottles!

No way no way! I mean, afterall, Shakira is gorgeous! Let him keep it. I'm sure you can come up with one heck of a vintage style frame to put her in that would so nicely match your bottles. Perhaps even add some red tasseled ribbons to a few of the bottles to make them match! It's all about compromise.

Maybe you can just revamp your bottles. Spraypaint some, put ribbons around others, fill some with small items. That way, they will look new and you could possibly forego Shakira joining you for dinner every night.

My husband doesn't care how i decorate in the house, because I let him have whatever he wants in his "mancave". It seems to work for us!

I think as your older sister it is my duty and obligation to find a new home for your "dirty bottles"! Anything I can do to keep the peace!! And if it helps Eric has always been in love with Shakira he can find a home for her maybe in between one of his dead animals!!!

Babe, the poster was from my mission in Peru. Not sure where you got Brazil from. I haven't even thought about that poster since we got married. I will agree with Stephanie that she is gorgeous and with Shelley that she should make an appearance.
