Yesterday I was playing around with my hair and decided to try a Grecian hairstyle on my mCshorty hair and came up with a little something that looks like this...
I love the Grecian ponytail but my hair will never be long enough to try it so a new hairstyle was born using an unexpected instrument.
See what I mean by watching...

a glimpse into my whippy lair
during chaotic times my studio is known to look a little something like this...
If you were wondering why my posts this week have been lame or non existent this picture will kind of explain why. sigh* I did clean it up and I did overcome what I that to be "the insurmountable" pile of orders and mailed them out yesterday. I felt so unbelievably relieved... for about a minute, then I took one look at my overflowing inbox and decided to take a nap. It seems like I keep running into all different kinds of stupid setbacks with my orders and packages and it has definitely been frustrating. Darnit! It really hasn't been my week but I have had so much support from my sisters and friends. I definitely feel loved! I am back at it again though and hope to rejuvenate some much needed energy and enthusiasm.
I might have a little some'n some'n to giveaway on my blog tomorrow to celebrate the end of this challenging week. I'm just saying...

New girls on the block...
Say hello to the new girls on the block. Just added these ladies to my ssssssshop! Check it.
This beauty was an accident {hence the name "Oopsie"} but she is probably one of my all time favorites. I can't stop looking at her.
This lacey thing has been requested time and again for baptisms and weddings. Now she no longer needs to be custom ordered because she too is in my shop.
Wife Goes On Vintage Confection
If you shop Matilda Jane you probably have the Cher dress. I get custom order requests all the time for glamour bands to match that darling number. This little lady was born to be worn with the cher dress.

My Favorite Hair Trends
Sometimes I wish I didn't spend days in a row locked up in my studio in my pj's with 3, 4 and 5 day hair. Alright, let me be honest I actually love it. However, if I did get out more you would find me sporting some of my favorite hair trends which are...
High Top Ponytails {"some men can't handle the regalness of an up-do"}
Braids, braids and more braids. {I'm devoting the month of June to braid tutorials only}
Emma Watson {pk, so she is not a hair style but I just LOVE her!}

Ripoffs and Knockoffs
In the world of the crafty business woman competition is thick and sometimes even cut throat. With the help of blogs, etsy and fb I think the creative market has expanded like wild fire and sometimes becomes over saturated. In many ways it's a completely great thing but in other ways it can be frustrating and disheartening as an entrepreneur. I've vented in moments of frustration or anger to my husband and closest confidantes about how discouraging it is when others take advantage of someone's hard work, sweat and tears not to mention their creative ideas. I've been ripped off and knocked off by strangers and friends and I know of sweet and ingenious creative friends who have likewise been imitated. It really upsets me.
My question to you is how do you feel about this unspoken behavior that is so ever present in the craft world? As a customer do you have an opinion about this happening? Do you care if you have a ripoff or knockoff of somebody's product? As a business owner do you get frustrated or upset when it happens to you? Do you confront the offender? Do you turn the other cheek so to speak? As an offender do you see fairness in these actions? Is imitation really the best form of flattery or is it just a load of doodie that gives others permission to pretty much plagiarize.
I guess I am wondering if anyone else ever takes offense like I do. Am I completely selfish for thinking so? I think we are all guilty of "copying" in one way or another {special thanks to the rapid popularity of tutorials and DIY's} but at what point does it cross the line? Is it ok to copy something if it's just for yourself? If you change it up a bit does it then become your idea? Is it only wrong if you try to sell it and therefor become competition of the person you copy? I know these are all hush hush things that nobody talks about and especially never blogs about. Please don't stone me ! I just want to know if there are others who feel the same or if I just need to get over myself.
Your thoughts?

It's not what you think...
I've also listed metal and elastic headbands a la carte for the first time so if you were wanting to order some extra's it just got a whole lot easier to get them :) Appliques are still just available through custom order request.

Hissy Fit and other stuff
I have been wanting to post pictures of this piece of work since I made it. I am so in love with this one I threw a hissy fit when it was done (hence the name). I almost thought it was t0o big at first and then I thought "nah! no such thing as too big!". I just listed it in my shop too. So fun!
Hissy Fit
You might just throw a hissy fit too if you win a Vintage Confection on Ucreate who is hosting a giveaway. She is doing a little spotlight on me today so be sure to take advantage and enter the giveaway. {I don't do them very often anymore.} This is one of my top favorite blogs because of all of the seriously awesome tutorials she finds. Absolutely worth blog stalking.
If you have been waiting to hear about which slogan I picked, I finally committed to one! *Applause* It was a rocky process because I was so torn between all of your great ideas but Bret and Kelsey helped me take the plunge. And so I am pleased to share with you the official Whippy Cake slogan...
A Taste of Glam
I really REALLY liked "have your cake and wear it too" and was actually going to modify it to "whippy cake and wear it too" but "a taste of glam" ties into how I picked the name Whippy Cake for my business and I also like how short and sweet it is. I appreciated all of your comments and input and it was fun to see what you all voted for. I think it helped make it easier for me to decide. Now I just need to get the website finalized and ready to launch I had no idea it would take this long. My bad :(

Hello Weekend
I can't believe it's the weekend already. The days are definitely blurring together. I just finished sending off a few more package and I will be spending the rest of the day cleaning my pigsty of a house but more excitingly than that I get to spend uninterrupted time with my family. I can't wait to indulge in Lo's relentless hugs and Kingston's silly phrases and ninja kicks and of course some one on one with my husband. sigh*
On Monday I will post my new slogan and some new product! See ya then...

This and that
This post is about a little bit of this and that but nothing in particular.
First off, I am getting anxiously excited about tonight because I have been gawking over these clothes in my living room and I just want everyone else to see to come see them already! Also, there is a last minute addition that I know you are going to flip for. Shayce from Chateau Couture is bringing some pieces of her collection and she is also offering a 10% discount to all the guest who attend the tea party tonight! I am so excited to have her pretty things in my home and to see all the new creations she has been working on. Shayce is mucho talented and has phenomenal experience in the design world. I am so happy she agreed to come!
Next! I got an email from one of you readers that just made my day! Alena sent me a link to a post on her blog where she does a tribute to Whippy Cake. I love reading such positive things from you guys and I love sharing them even more. I think it's the best part about my job.
In other news, things have gotten a little crazy at my chaotic whippy Lair (get it? like cake layer...nm) Anyways, over the last 3 weeks I have had a full blown rush of orders I just wasn't prepared for so orders are taking a bit longer to process than usual. I've solicited some help from some of my favorite people and my goal is to be completely caught up by next weekend. Take that you big stack of orders! The good news is that the pandemonium has forced me to come up with some new and improved processed to get things done better and more efficiently. Some time in the future {soon, I hope!} I will get some daily good quality family time in and just maybe some much needed sleep. Thanks to all my helpers and especially to all my customers for being patient with me!
On the bright side I am jolly good happy to announce I will be hosting another Pink Chandelier giveaway. Oh Ohhhhhh! I know you love me, but I can't take credit. She sent me some new samples and charms that I know you are going to love so get your game face on because the giveaway is coming at you live next week! Boooya!
The End.
{for now anyways}
